New Rural Veterans Career Advisor serves Del Rio Area

Rustee Flood and Adrian Bitela

Job seeking veterans in the Del Rio area now have a local TVC Rural Veterans Career Advisor (RVCA) they can connect with. RVCA Rustee Flood, an Air Force Veteran, started with TVC Veterans Employment Services at Del Rio in March 2024. A pair of outreach events have allowed her to meet area veterans and their families, plus strengthen relationships with other veteran services and community partners in the region.

Val Verde County Veteran Services Officer Adrian Bitela was enthusiastic about having someone to refer job seeking veterans to at the Del Rio American Job Center.

Most recently, Flood and Bitela, pictured, participated in the Veterans Health and Welfare Event on May 25. They were among over a dozen organizations serving veterans at the event. Joining Flood as part of the Veterans Employment team at the TVC booth was RVCA and Air Force veteran Homer Prado, whose base offices are in Laredo, Zapata and Hebbronville. At the event, Prado and Flood helped one job seeking veteran on the spot with information, plus, some skills enhancement for transitioning to the workforce. Further, they answered questions from and provided information to about three dozen attendees.

Veterans throughout Texas can find the TVC Veterans Employment Services team in 90 locations across state including 70 American Job Centers.  Find your local office. https://www.twc.texas.gov/directory-workforce-solutions-offices-services
