Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) workshops cover crucial aspects to prepare for post-military professions and job searches. This includes hands on work with resume development, interviewing skills and other job search skills. OBBT also provides labor market information.
A recent OBTT workshop series held in El Paso in early May attracted 157 participants to 12 employment workshops held at three different locations in the city.
“This series aimed to bolster job readiness in preparation for the Fort Bliss Job/Career EXPO on May 22nd and 23rd,” said Scott Graves, TVC Veteran Career Advisor and Army veteran.
In addition to the job search skills, these workshops introduced El Paso area veterans to the TVC Veteran Employment Services West Texas team, which assists veterans in their job searches and potentially connect them with employers. “We have follow-ups ongoing for those interested in triaging for eligibility for Jobs for Veteran State Grant service,” said Graves.
The workshops have been well received. “Participants were highly satisfied with their experiences, praising the practical knowledge and resources provided,” said Graves. “A significant highlight was the strong attendance among Justice Involved Veterans, who found the workshops particularly beneficial. Transitioning service members also expressed their gratitude for being included and showed up in good numbers.”
