Veteran Employment Services annually presents Employer Awards to business and organizations demonstrating a strong commitment to employing veterans and for effective veteran employment initiatives. The following businesses and organizations were awarded for their dedication to veteran employment in 2019.
Large Employer Award (251+ employees)
Allied Universal (AU)-Texas, Houston, TX
The company had a workforce of over 5000 of which 14% are veterans. They hired 1700 individuals during the year in which 35% were veterans.
Medium Employer Award (51-250 employees)
Hobbs Bonded Fibers, Waco, TX
The company had a workforce of 176 of which 15% were veterans. They hired 74 individuals during the year in which 20% were veterans.
Small Employer Award  (50 or fewer employees)
High Order Solutions, Frisco, TX
The company had a workforce of 11 of which 45% were veterans. They hired 2 individuals during the year in which 100% were veterans.
Extra Mile Award
Joshua Vasquez, Lower Rio Grande Valley Workforce Board, McAllen, TX
Joshua, in his role of Business Solutions Representative, actively advocates for veterans while engaging with the business community.  He spearheaded the planning of the annual Red, White and You Hiring Event to connect veteran job seekers and spouses with job opportunities.  He also partnered with local media to host veteran-focused job fairs throughout the year.
Local Workforce Center Award
Workforce Solutions of North Texas, Wichita Falls, TX
Workforce Solutions of North Texas met or exceeded all of its negotiated performance standards and provided outstanding services to Texas Veterans and their families. Â To date, 5,913 referrals were given to Veterans with a 66% Veteran employment rate.
Local Workforce Board Award
Lower Rio Grande Valley Workforce Board, McAllen, TX
Workforce Solutions of Central Texas met or exceeded all of its negotiated performance standards and provided outstanding services to Texas Veterans and their families. To date, 145 transitioning military have accepted employment (67% employment rate).
Government Entity Awards
(Large) Rio Grande Valley Sector  HQ Custom and Border Protection, Edinburg, TX
The agency had a workforce of 3,320, in which 30% are veterans. They hired 155 individuals during the year consisting of 57 veterans, totaling 37%.
(Medium) VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend (VCB) Health Care System, Harlingen, TX
The agency had a workforce of 1,089 employees, of which 36% are veterans. They hired 341 individuals during the year, of which 209 were veterans for a percentage of 63%.
(Small) Vet Center-715 Readjustment Counseling Service, McAllen, TX.
The agency had a workforce of 10 employees, of which 90% are veterans. They hired 3 individuals during the year, in which 50% were veterans.
