Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12 in the United States, a date chosen to mark the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.
The date was first recognized when the New York State Assembly declared June 12, 2008 to be Women Veterans’ Recognition Day. Women Veterans Day is not a separate day for women Veterans, it is a tribute to a groundbreaking day when women were acknowledged as essential to the war efforts and could serve in the regular armed forces. Come on out and celebrate, the many accomplishments of Women Veterans, and help us honor them in our first annual, Denim and Diamonds Women Veterans Day Luncheon. This is a Free event for all women veterans.
