Texans earn American Legion National Employer Awards

Katasha Gray

The 2019 American Legion National Employer Awards recognized Katasha Gray as Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP) of the Year. Gray, a Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Veteran Career Advisor, was recognized last month by the America Legion’s state level employer award and has now gone on to be their national best. Congratulations Katasha!

Gray is assigned to the Resource Connection American Job Center in Ft Worth which serves 6,986 Veterans, of that 682 have disabilities.

She has personally conducted 331 counseling activities, 219 job search activities and 48 referrals to Supportive Services: These efforts resulted in 80% of her 33 Case Managed Veterans obtaining suitable employment!” said Ron Abrams, TVC-North Texas Employment District Outreach Coordinator. “She works with Veteran job seekers with various barriers to employment such as Justice Involved, Homelessness, Vietnam Era, Low Income, and Transitioning service members.”

The 2019 American Legion Employer of Veterans Award for Small Businesses was presented to High Order Solutions, LLC in Frisco. High Order Solutions is veteran-owned and provides business solutions for industries. This includes software solutions, training, project management and staffing services. High Order Solutions’ training resources are offered at no cost to Veterans so that they may better themselves and receive a higher wage. They give preferential treatment to those veterans that complete their training program. The company works with local TVC Veterans Employment Liaison Tracy Griffard to post job opportunities and provide information on our upcoming training classes. High Order Solutions community involvement includes supporting the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Device) Warrior Foundation (EODWF), a non-profit that serves injured or ill EOD warriors and their families. Additionally, High Order Solutions donates to various veterans’ organizations such as the American Legion and VFW.

Another 2019 American Legion Employer Award honoring Texans was the Employer of Older Workers Award presented to the Harris Health System in Houston.

Congratulations to all!
