VFW Post 4008 in Belton was recognized for its community partnership, support and generosity with TVC’s Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) and the Service Members, Veterans and Families (SMVF) community.
“Over the past year, that VFW post has donated about $15,000 to the Samaritan Center on behalf of MVPN,” said Josh Shaver, Samaritan Center Military Program Manager, MVPN Peer Service Coordinator and Army veteran.
Those funds were used for a range of items, from snacks and food at parades to recognition events. A recent donation also helped soldiers returning for redeployment.

“Recently, VFW Post 4008 in Belton donated $4,000 which was used to purchase 125 twin size bedding sets with comforters and also hygiene items to support those returning with the 1st Cavalry Sustainment Brigade for their redeployment from Europe.” said Shaver. He noted that in most instances, returning soldiers have personal items, such as bedding, shipped in metal shipping containers from overseas. Not always, but sometimes, service members are not able to access those containers right away. With the VFW Post 4008 donation, these service members will have a much deserved token of comfort from the thankful community veterans and families.
Thank you VFW Post 4008!
