Four on the spot interviews, referrals to employment opportunities and job seekers assisted with completing their Work in Texas job seeker profiles are among actions taken at recent job fairs across the state.

A job fair sponsored by University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Military & Veterans Success Center in late March resulted in veteran referrals to employment opportunities. At the event, TVC Rural Veteran Career Advisor (RCVA) and Navy veteran David Cardenas referred a veteran to a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor position and another to a Customs and Border Protection employment preparation workshop. Another veteran was referred to a local American Jobs Center to receive resume updating for potential career advancement. One veteran was interested in starting his own business and was referred to the TVC Entrepreneur program to present his business idea.

Over 100 job seekers attended the Mini Job Fair in Houston sponsored by TVC Veteran Employment Services in partnership with Texas Workforce Solutions. The event, held in late March, helped veterans complete their Work in Texas job seeker profiles and featured over a dozen employers and job resources organizations. A job fair co-hosted by TVC and the Salvation Army in Garland, plus an event in Denton, resulted in four interviews being conducted at the events. Those two events combined drew over 90 employers and approximately 70 veterans. The events were held mid-March.
