The Texas Veterans Commissioners approved the annual Veteran Employer of the Year awards at the quarterly commission meeting on May 15, 2025. TVC Veteran Employment Services staff nominate businesses and organizations which demonstrate a strong commitment to employing veterans and leading effective veteran employment initiatives.

When you hire a veteran, you are gaining an employee who is adaptable, capable under pressure, and will exemplify integrity to your mission,” said TVC Executive Director and Army veteran Tom Palladino. “Congratulations to our employers of the year. You know veterans are a vital part of your workforce and have implemented initiatives to bring veterans into your organization.”
The following businesses and organizations are recognized for their dedication to veteran employment in 2024.
Small Employer of the Year
Undivided Labor, Roanoke, Texas
- Workforce of seven is 48% veterans; 33% of new hires in the past year are veterans.
- Provides transition back into civilian life for veterans and reservists, giving them education and training in reliable trades.
Medium Employer of the Year
Airbus Helicopters, Inc., Grand Prairie, Texas
- Workforce of 904 is 20% veterans; 31% of new hires in the past year are veterans.
- Airbus is a leader in innovation and production of aircraft for commercial and military use.
Large Employer of the Year
Allied Universal Security, Austin, TX
- Workforce of 2,100 is 23% veterans; 14% of new hires in the past year are veterans.
- Provides security services and technology to serve and safeguard businesses, people and communities.
Small Government Entity of the Year
City of Bellmead, Bellmead, Texas
- Workforce of 82 is 16% veterans; 30% of new hires in the past year are veterans.
- Municipal administration and services provider.
Medium Government Entity of the Year
Garland Fire Department, Garland, Texas
- Workforce of 298 is 24% veterans; 3% of new hires in past year are veterans.
- Emergency response and public safety provider.
Large Government Entity of the Year
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Austin, Texas
- Workforce of 2,876 is 7% veterans; 10% of new hires in past year are veterans.
- Strives to protect our state’s human and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development.
The TVC Veteran Employment Services team works with both job seeking veterans and businesses to successfully transition former military service members into the civilian workforce. This includes TVC Veteran Career Advisors and Veterans Employer Liaisons. TVC Career Advisors assist veterans in translating military skills into civilian employment. They assist with their job search including resume writing, interviewing skills and more. Veterans Employer Liaisons connect with employers to inform them of the benefits of hiring veterans. This includes getting a great, adaptable and dependable employee, plus tax credits. Further, the Veteran Employment Team hosts and participates in job fairs and hiring events.
