Military spouses and dependents of service members can find employment assistance from Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Employment Services Family Career Advisors (FCAs). Most FCAs are former military spouses themselves and know the challenges of being in a military family and while seeking civilian employment. FCAs know the employment opportunities available and are connected with their area employers.

It’s one of many success stories from Stewart. Recently, Stewart’s relationship with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas proved beneficial for them as well as a job seeker.
Workforce Solutions of Central Texas Operations Manager Cara Williams emailed partner agencies, including Stewart, an announcement of a child care services position opening at Workforce Solutions in Killeen.
Stewart informed her job seeking clients of the opening; plus, gave them information about the employer. She advised them to review the job announcement thoroughly and to tailor their resumes to it. Additionally, she encouraged her clients to follow up with her once they submitted their applications so that she could notify the employer.
Stewart stayed in contact with Williams about applicants she had referred for the position. Williams thanked her for “referring great candidates” and said “keep the referrals coming!”
Of the applicants chosen for interview, half were Stewart’s clients, one of which was ultimately offered the position.
