Althea Williams embraced her calling, defied the norm and joined the Army at age 39. In doing so, Williams, who has an MBA, left a career in small business development and public policy research. She went on to deployment in Afghanistan. After service, Williams founded She Vets It. An online community that provides a place where women veterans, military spouses and their families can share experiences and support each other. Focus areas of She Vets It include mental health, wellness, entrepreneurship and career transitioning.
“Althea’s story resonates deeply,” said Ron Abrams, TVC Employment Services North Texas District Outreach Coordinator and Army veteran, who recently heard Williams speak at the Dallas World Trade Center. “Her powerful speech urged everyone to be in the right place, not where they wished to be, but where their destiny calls them.”
