Military service members and veterans are invited to show their appreciation and affection to their spouses on the home front on Military Spouse Appreciation Day, May 8, 2026, in Texas.
The day highlights the vital role military spouses play in supporting military service members and veterans, often navigating frequent relocations, careers disruptions, and extended periods of separation. The commitment of service members’ spouses helps keep our country strong and safe.
To help Texans show their appreciation, TVC has created a downloadable graphic and video below that can be shared with military spouses across the state. Texans are encouraged to download and share these resources to recognize military spouses on May 8.
Military families relocate 2.5 – 3 years on average, often facing new homes, jobs, schools, and settling into new communities.
Texas is home to the largest veteran population in the nation, with more than 1.5 million veterans. Supporting military families is critical to maintaining strong communities across the state.
Texans are encouraged to take a moment on May 8 to thank a military spouse and share TVC’s resources to help amplify their contributions.

“The military spouse holds the home together while their service member is absent. They regularly must act as a single parent, a teacher, a role model, a minister, a confidant, a leader, and an ally for others in the same situation. The strength of a military spouse lies in their ability to adapt and overcome,” said Texas Veterans Commission Executive Director and Army veteran Tom Palladino. “This is why we give special recognition to those married to military service members and veterans.”
