Military Spouse Appreciation day honors the contributions, support and sacrifices made by the spouses of military service members and veterans. America’s military spouses bolster our troops during mission, deployment, reintegration and reset. The commitment spouses give helps keep our country strong and safe.
Military service members are often away on duty. Military families move to a new location every 2.5 years on average. This brings change, added expenses, and the need to restart: finding new homes, jobs, schools, child care and settling into new communities.
“The military spouse holds the home together while their service member is absent. They regularly must act as a single parent, a teacher, a role model, a minister, a confidant, a leader, and an ally for others in the same situation. The strength of a military spouse lies in their ability to adapt and overcome,” said Texas Veterans Commission Executive Director and Army veteran Tom Palladino. “This is why we give special recognition to those married to military service members and veterans.”
