Project MEND’s mission is to improve the quality of life for veterans living with disabilities and illnesses in south Texas. They do this by providing durable medical equipment and assistive technology to veterans and their family members who are need. Project MEND focuses on refurbishing, reusing, and distributing medical equipment to ensure that veterans have access to the tools they need to live more independent, fulfilling lives.
“As the veteran population ages and the demand for services grows, Project MEND continues to play a critical role in meeting these needs,” said Cathy Valdez, CEO, Project MEND.
Since 2011, the TVC has awarded Project MEND 10 Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants, helping them expand their reach and enhance their services. Previous year grants totaled over $1.9 million and helped to serve over 2,500 veterans and families. This past May, Project MEND was awarded a $300,000 FVA grant that will assist approximately 500 veterans and their families.
