Texas Veteran Commission (TVC) Veterans Education Services (VES) works with institutions of higher learning to administer veteran education benefits and create veteran friendly environments at colleges and universities.
As part of this partnership with these institutions, TVC participated in the Texas Association of Collegiate Veteran Program Officials (TACVPO) Conference held in March in Houston.
“What you do matters. The impact you have on lives, on families, and on futures through education is profound. It is a model of care and commitment that deserves recognition,” said Charlie Catoe, TVC Director of Veterans Benefits and Air Force veteran, who spoke at the event.
In Fiscal Year 2024-2025, TVC Veterans Education:
- assisted more than 19,820 veterans, dependents, family members and educational institutions about veterans’ education benefits
- answered more than 17,500 phone calls and emails regarding individual federal and state education benefit questions
- acted over 900 times in giving such technical assistance and outreach through conferences, including TACVPO
- made over 25,000 higher education program approvals
- earned the VA’s highest rating for a State Approving Agency with near-perfect performance metrics
At the TACVPO conference, TVC presented Veteran Education Excellence Recognition Awards to colleges and universities earning the honor.
