Grants Across Texas delivers $44.2 million to 161 organizations in 10 stops

Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Grants Across Texas tour has circled the state to deliver over $44.2 million in grant awards to 161 organizations which are estimated to serve nearly 42,000 veterans, their dependents, and surviving spouses. The tour made 10 stops in cities from the Rio Grande Valley to the Panhandle, West Texas to East Texas, North Texas to the Gulf Coast, Central Texas and the Hill Country, presenting big checks along the way.

The tour began on Sept. 4, 2024 in the Rio Grande Valley to present $4,300,000 in grants to 12 organizations. The funding is expected to serve an estimated 3,411 local veterans. The presentation was made by TVC Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner in Edinburg.

On September 10, 2024, $7,560,000 in grants was presented to 22 organizations in the San Antonio and surrounding Hill Country area to serve an estimated 7,290 local veterans and families members. The presentation was made by TVC Chairwoman Koerner.

The tour visited Houston on September 12. There, $7,625,000 in grants was presented to 31 organizations for providing services to Gulf Coast area. The grants are anticipated to serve 8,734 local veterans.  The presentation was made by TVC Commission Secretary and Army veteran Kevin Barber.

By September 18, the tour had rolled west to El Paso where $2,492,000 in grants was presented to eight organizations for providing services to an estimated 2,125 West Texas veterans and their families. Presenting the grants was TVC Executive Director and Army veteran Tom Palladino.

The Grants Across Texas tour went north and on September 19, $2,775,000 in grants was presented to eight organizations for providing services to 1,099 Panhandle veterans and their families. The presentation was made in Lubbock by TVC Commissioner and Marine veteran Chuck Wright.

By September 24, the tour had traveled east to Tyler. There, $1,420,000 in grants was presented to eight organizations to provid services to East Texas veterans and their family members. The funding is expected to serve an estimated 692 local veterans. The was presentation was made by Commissioner Wright.

On September 25 and 26, the tour stopped in Dallas and Fort Worth to present $8,625,000 in grants to 32 organizations. The funding is anticipated to serve an approximately 10,917 veterans and their families in the Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas areas. Presenting the grants was Commissioner Wright.

The grants tour came to Austin on October 1. There, $8,270,000 in grants was presented to 31 organizations for providing services to Central Texas veterans and their families. These grants are expected to serve an estimated 7,632 local veterans. Presenting the grants was TVC Vice Chair and Army veteran Mary Dale.

The final stop of the Grants Across Texas tour was on October 10 at Bexar County Veterans Treatment Court.
