Morant Pittman, a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army, faced a major setback when he was laid off from his role as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Fort Cavazos. “Mr. Pittman was disheartened and discouraged at the possibilities of obtaining a worthy job due to his age. He came to the Killeen Workforce Center in to kickstart his job search journey,” said TVC Veteran Career Advisor (VCA) and Army veteran Eliseo Torres.
In October 2023, they began working closely together with determination and persistence. Pittman and Torres formed a strategic employment plan aimed at securing a new career.
Pittman received personalized guidance from Torres and his teammates VCAs and Army veterans Todd Edmondson and Ray Hartmann, plus Veteran Employer Liaison (VEL) and Army veteran Jerald Gould. They assisted him on refining his interviewing techniques and customizing his resume to match targeted positions.
Their collective efforts paid off. “Mr. Pittman began receiving multiple interview invitations from impressive employers in both the federal and state government sectors,” said Torres.
Through unwavering commitment and the guidance of his dedicated support team, Pittman eventually landed a desired federal position with the Army Installation Management Command at Fort Cavazos, this time as an Operations Specialist. On April 8, 2024, Pittman started his new job.
