When an Army National Guard veteran came to do community service hours at Veteran Point in Denton, Becca Hobby and Kasey Brown of the Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) took it as an opportunity to get to know him and talk with him.
“After discussing VA Disability benefits, he asked if we could look over his previous denial,” said Brown.
The pair found an error the VA had made and helped him re-file.
“We walked him through the process and were alongside him the entire time. Not only did the VA increase him from 0% to 70%, they also gave him back pay to 2018. It was $175,000 in back pay for him and his family!” said Brown.
