Ensuring her team is well trained, effective and raising the bar of service excellence earned Dallas County Veteran Service Office Assistant Director and Army veteran Lavette Domineck a Texas Veterans Commission Team Impact Award.
“When you have a can do attitude there is nothing standing in your way. This is how I would describe Lavette!” said Laura Bivens, TVC Mentor-Trainer-Liaison Team Lead Supervisor and Army veteran, who nominated Domineck for the award. “She actively works to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Her willingness to go above and beyond, whether it involves providing guidance to a colleague, advocating for a veteran, or navigating complex cases, has earned her widespread respect and admiration.”
The nomination for Domineck cited that she “Continuously seeks out new methods and tools to enhance the learning experience for her staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the evolving needs of the veterans they serve. By hosting training sessions for veteran county service officers, she has directly contributed to the professional growth and competence of her team.”
Domineck’s nomination went on to state that she ensures that every team member is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve veterans with excellence. Leading by example she fosters a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. She so inspires and motivates her team that they are a cohesive, high-performing unit which consistently delivers outstanding service to veterans and their families.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition from TVC. This award is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the entire Dallas County Veteran Services team,” said Domineck. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to contribute and witness a positive impact in the lives of the constituents we serve. This award is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the incredible support and guidance I have received from Laura Bivens, my director James Henderson, Jr. and my team who consist of Assistant Veterans Service Officers Angelica Lewis, Joseph Stump, Jimmy Castillo and our Senior Secretary Lisette James. I am truly fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated and inspiring team. Thank you again for this recognition. I am committed to continuing to contribute to the success of this organization and strive for excellence in all of my endeavors.”
“Lavette’s impact extends beyond her immediate role, reflecting the core values shared with the Texas Veterans Commission: service, integrity and accountability. Her efforts ensure that the Dallas County VCSO remains a vital resource for veterans, their dependents, and the broader community,” said Bivens. “Through her leadership and dedication, she has not only enhanced the lives of those she serves but also reinforced the mission of ensuring that all veterans receive the recognition and support they deserve.”
