Those without military experience who work with veterans will benefit from a better understanding of military culture and stress triggers. Organizations and professionals that serve veterans or hire them, plus, individuals who may encounter veterans as part of their day can improve how they relate with them through TVC’s Military Cultural Competency course.

“This equips professionals and community members with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively serve veterans, service members, and their families,” said Brandi D’Haiti. “Participants will gain a deeper understanding of military structure and culture, will learn skills needed when working with veterans and will better understand the unique stressors accompanied with transitioning from military service.”
D’Haiti, pictured, is TVC’s Veteran Mental Health Department Veterans Learning Program Manager, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and an Army veteran.
TVC’s Advanced Certificate in Military Cultural Competency consists of four courses which may be taken individually. The courses help bridge the gap between military and civilian systems and each count as continuing education units for professional development.
“The courses are designed for anyone motivated to work with service members and veterans, including mental health professionals and first responders,” said D’Haiti.
